FLAP

Flap is a panel that covers the opening of a bag or pocket partially or fully.

The importance of the flap is to protect the contents in the bag from falling out. There is also a design aspect for having a flapfor decorative purpose.

SOFT FLAPS

Flaps that are very soft, without any pre-defined shape or form.

SEMI RIGID FLAPS

Flaps that are Semi-rigid and have its own form. The shape of these flaps are maintained even while in use.

STRUCTURED FLAPS

Flaps that have a distinct physical shape or form or having a definite predetermined pattern, often provided by an internal structure.

FRONT & BACK PANEL

The front panel is the front side of a bag, where customized logos are usually placed for clear visibility of branding and the back panel is said to be on the backside of the handbag. Both the front and back panels are joined together to create an opening for keeping things inside a handbag.

The front & back panel defines the shape of the bag.

GUSSET

A gusset is a part which joins the front and back panels of a bag or pocket to define the space inside. Normally, there are different Types of construction of gusset in different handbags like Accordion Gusset, Flutter Gusset & single Gusset, and Double Gusset. A gusset is an extra piece of fabric/leather that makes bags roomier.

The front & back panel defines the shape of the bag.

The Bottom of a handbag is the foundation of every handbag. The flat bottom part of the handbag holds front & back panel of the handbags together to form a large-size pocket.

HANDLES

Handle is that part of a handbag by which it is carried on either the shoulder, wrist or by hand. It is functionally the most important part of a handbag.

Handle can be of various kinds, depending on the type of handbags being made.

THERE ARE TWO KINDS OF HANDLES

SHOULDER HANDLE

The handle goes over an arm and rests on the shoulder. It is also worn over shoulder, often draped across the torso to hold the bag on the opposite hip. It is also wrapped over both shoulders to carry on the back.

Handles are of 5 types and they are -

SHORT HANDLE

These handles are small straps that you can hold or slide over your wrist for carrying. They are attatched to the top of a handbag, front and back panels or the corners of a small bag.

Support Reinforcements are those reinforcements which are used to provide support in context with material being used like –

Leather, Lining & Hardware.

SUPPORT REINFORCEMENTS CAN BE CATEGORIZED INTO 3 KINDS –

LEATHER SUPPORT

Reinforcement which are used to strengthen components attached to Leather like Loops and Patches.

LINING SUPPORT

Reinforcement which are used to strengthen components attached to Lining like Window Zipper pockets, Organisers in lining, Phone Pockets in Lining, Slip in pockets and many more.

HARDWARE SUPPORT

Reinforcement which are used to strengthen components attached to Hardware Like D-Rings, Locks, Magnetic Snaps, Snap Buttons, Eyelets, Rivets, etc.
